Atlantic Road Events - November 2026
November is the pivot month: the storms deepen, the days shorten fast, and Norway begins its run-up to Christmas. It is also the month the winter driving rules bite. Christmas markets open in the towns around the road in the last two weekends.
Season and fixtures
Winter tyres become compulsory
From 1 November 2026
Norwegian law requires winter tyres in winter conditions, and the season runs November to April. If you are driving the Atlantic Road in a rental car, confirm it is on winter tyres before you leave the airport.

First Sunday of Advent
Sunday 29 November 2026
The start of the Norwegian Christmas season, marked with advent candles, lights in the town centres and the run-up to the Christmas markets. Note this is the general Norwegian observance; we do not date individual local markets here because the reliable listings carry only one source each - check local tourist-office pages for the Kristiansund and Molde market weekends.
